Spouses arrested on charges of fraud for 107 thousand manats acquitted

The trial in the case of Agshin Abdullayev and his wife Leyla Abdullayeva, who were imprisoned on charges of committing large-scale fraud, has ended, oxu.az reports with reference to Qafqazinfo. The couple, accused of causing damage to five people totaling 107,000 manats, pleaded not guilty. At the Baku Court of Appeal, the defendants demanded acquittal, saying they were arrested without reason.

It is noted that the criminal case was heard in the Baku Court of Serious Crimes. By a court decision made a year ago, A. Abdullayev was sentenced to 6 years and 6 months, and L. Abdullayeva – to 5 years in prison.

After studying all the evidence, as well as hearing the parties, the higher court overturned the verdict of the trial court. The judges, chaired by Ziya Shirinov, came to the conclusion that not all facts important to the case had been proven. According to the decision, A. Abdullaev and L. Abdullaeva were acquitted. The couple were released in the courtroom.
