Interior Ministry exposes gross embezzlement in Defense Ministry

The Russian Interior Ministry suspect a group of people in Voentelecom, a multi-profile telecommunications holding, of embezzling 700 million rubles (22 million U.S. dollars) in the Russian Defence Ministry, the press centre of the Russian Interior Ministry told Itar-Tass on September 24, 2013.

“The detectives from the main department of economic security and counteraction to corruption of the Russian Interior Ministry and from the Military Counterintelligence Department of the Federal Security Service have exposed the embezzlements in the Russian Defence Ministry.

Former Voentelecom Director General Nikolai Tamodin is suspected of fulfilling the illegal scheme. The police have detained him,” the press centre reported.
