Trial of persons accused in robbing

The Baku Court for Grave Crimes has today held a preliminary hearing on case of a group of persons convicted of robbing a BP employee, who is a UK citizen.

APA reports that the convicts’ profile data were defined during the meeting. The judicial review of the process was scheduled for November 21.

According to a statement issued by the Interior Ministry, a group of unknown persons assaulted on UK citizen Hughes Robert, an engineer working at BP’s Amec branch, seizing a gold ring, a watch and two cell phones from him.

As a result of the joint search operations conducted by the Main Crime Detection Department and the 39th unit of the Sabail District Police Office, Gabil Jafarov and Kamran Aslanov who had committed the crime were detained.

Earlier on March 8, they had robbed Baku citizen Andrey Soroki, seizing his 500 manats, a cell phone and personal documents.

Both persons face charges under the Criminal Code’s article 180 (robbery).
