General Prosecutor’s Office completes investigation into corruption

The investigation of the criminal case launched by the Anti-Corruption Department under General Prosecutor into the illegal actions of officials of Agroservice branch of Agroleasing OJSC in Shaki district has been completed, General Prosecutor’s Office told APA.

The criminal case has been launched under the Criminal Code’s articles 178.2.2 (swindle act committed repeatedly), 178.2.3 (swindle act committed by person with use of service position), 178.2.4 (swindle with causing damage in the significant size),  179.3.2 (embezzlement in large size), 308.2 (abuse of official powers entailed heavy consequences) and 313.2 (service forgery) as the investigation revealed reasonable suspicions that Javanshir Gurbanov, when he was heading Agroservice branch in Shaki district in 2005-2006, entering into a criminal conspiracy with other officials of the branch, abusing his power, falsifying official documents, misappropriated AZN 987,000 from the sale of fertilizer, and inflicted damage worth AZN 360,000 on Agroleasing OJSC and embezzled AZN 5,400 from citizens.

In addition, Rafim Gurbanov, when he was heading the branch in 2007-2014, entering into a criminal conspiracy with other officials of the branch, abusing his power, falsifying official documents, embezzled AZN 5,363,000 from the sale of fertilizer and agricultural machinery, and inflicted damage worth AZN 2,084,000 on Agroleasing OJSC. As a result, the criminal case has been launched under the Criminal Code’s articles 179.3.2, 308.2, 313 and 326.1 (Abduction, destruction, damage or concealment of official documents, stamps or seals, committed by mercenary or other personal interest).

Storekeeper Mehman Rajabov faced charges under article 179.3.2 of the Criminal Code.

A partial reimbursement was provided during the investigation.

The criminal case was sent to the Shaki Court of Grave Crimes for consideration.
