Investgation into Khadija Ismayilova’s case completed

Investigative Department on Grave Crimes of Prosecutor’s General office of Azerbaijan stated on June 22, 2015 about completion of preliminary investigation on case of journalist Kh. Ismayilova, haqqin.az reports with reference to Turan agency and her defender – lawyer F. Mehdiyev.

According to the lawyer, beginning from June 23 Ismayilova and her defenders are beginning to familiarize with criminal case’s materials.

Mehdiyev said that first, Ismayilova was charged on article 125 (incitement to suicide), and later it was brought accusation on articles 179.3.2 (embezzlement or peculation in big amount), 192.2.2 (illegal enterprise), 213.1 (evasion on tax payment) and 308.2 (abuse of powers) of Criminal Code of Azerbaijan.

At the same time, criminal proceedings on article 284.2 (divulgence of state secret) was cancelled.
