Prosecutor General’s Office: Customs officer arrested for bribery

An employee of the State Customs Committee (SCC) has been arrested for accepting a large bribe, oxu.az reports citing the press service of the Azerbaijani Prosecutor General’s Office. It is noted that as a result of operational-search measures in connection with the appeals received by the State Customs Committee about illegal actions of Aslan Bayramov, who worked as an expert of the Central Department of Customs Expertise, a criminal case was initiated.

The investigation revealed the facts that A.Bayramov, while holding this position, abused his official powers and in exchange for a bribe in the amount of 13,500 manats, forged documents for 45 cars older than 10 years, imported from Georgia to Azerbaijan in May-August 2023.

Based on the materials collected in the case, a criminal case was initiated against Aslan Bayramov under articles 308.2, 311.3.2, 311.3.3 and 313 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and he was arrested by a court decision.

Operational and investigative activities are ongoing.
