The investigation into the criminal case of the chief of finance of the Ministry of Defense is completed

The investigation of the criminal case involving the former head of the financial department of the Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan, Major General Nizami Mammadov, has been completed. Part of the criminal case concerning Mammadov has been sent to the Baku Military Court for consideration, Trend reports referring to the lawyer of the former general Rashad Mirmehdizade.

According to the lawyer, during the investigation of the criminal case conducted by the State Security Service of Azerbaijan, his clients and other defendants were paid a total of about 40 million manats to the state budget, and this process continues. The lawyer noted that due to the grave state of health of Nizami Mammadov, with great difficulty he was able to familiarize himself with the 128-volume criminal case sent to the court and filed several petitions. Currently, the beginning of the trial in the Baku military court is expected.

It is noted that a number of investigations launched some time ago in the State Security Service revealed the facts of embezzlement in the financial structures of the Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan. Along with high-ranking heads of financial services, Major General Nizami Mammadov, head of the financial department of the Ministry of Defense, was arrested on charges of embezzlement on an especially large scale.
