Executive Power employee accused of bribery will appear in court

A criminal case has been initiated in the Main Anti-Corruption Directorate under the Prosecutor General of Azerbaijan, an investigation has been conducted in connection with the receipt of a large bribe by the senior adviser to the department for work with territorial administration and local self-government bodies of the Office of the Head of the Executive Power (EP) of the Absheron region, Mirgasim Mirishli, oxu.az reports with reference to the press service of the supervisory agency.

During the preliminary investigation, reasonable suspicions were revealed that M. Mirishli, having abused his official powers, received a large bribe from a citizen who approached him in exchange for carrying out construction work on an agricultural land plot, as well as the creation by the executive authority of conditions for the continuation of construction .

Based on the reliable evidence collected in the case, Mirgasim Mirishli was charged under Articles 308.2 (abuse of official powers, resulting in grave consequences) and 311.3.3 (receiving a large bribe) of the Criminal Code, and a preventive measure in the form of arrest was chosen by the court. The criminal case was sent for consideration to the Sumgayit Court of Serious Crimes.

According to the information, in connection with these violations of the law, since November last year, the powers of M. Mirishli in the Absheron region executive power have been frozen, depending on the result of the investigation, he will be dismissed from his position or other measures will be taken.
