The State Security Service completed the investigation into the case of an international cybercriminal extradited to Azerbaijan

The investigation of the criminal case against another member of the transnational organized cybercriminal group Sekrieru Ion Aleksandrovich, extradited to Azerbaijan by the State Security Service, has been completed. Report informs, the case was transferred for consideration to the Sumgayit Court of Serious Crimes.

According to the indictment, Ion Secrieru and other members of the group operating abroad, through a malicious program introduced into the computer systems of Azerbaijani banks via email, obtained information about the names, passwords and other key functions of network entities. After this, members of the group arrived in the country, and approaching ATMs installed in Baku and Sumgayit, without entering any cards or resorting to physical intervention, upon an external command using the Internet, they took the money and left the country.

Lengthy operational investigative measures made it possible to identify and extradite to the country one by one members of the group who are citizens of different countries and hiding in different countries.

In this regard, Ion Sekrieru, as well as foreign citizens Danila Dorin Konstantinovich and Gubchak Sergey Aksentievich, accused by the State Security Service under articles 273.4 and 177.3.2 (robbery by illegal interference with a computer system or computer data) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan, were brought to Azerbaijan and sentenced by the court to severe punishment.
