State Security Service of Azerbaijan: disinformation is being circulated on social networks

In the external segment of social networks, information was disseminated in connection with the planned armed attack on some schools in the city of Baku, with the aim of causing anxiety and artificial excitement among people, and this caused concern among our citizens. As APA reports, this is stated in the information of the State Security Service of Azerbaijan.

The report states that such far-fetched publications in connection with educational institutions in some foreign countries have previously been distributed on social networks from fake accounts.

“During the operational and technical activities, it was confirmed that the page of this social network is managed from abroad, joint urgent measures carried out with foreign partners established that the persons who created the social network channel cannot create any threat in the country, and have nothing to do with Azerbaijan.

It was also established that the photograph posted on the Telegram page, relating to secondary school No. 229 of the Nizami district of Baku, was taken on March 12, 2024 by a minor student of this school and posted by him on a channel created with the same name and content . The teenager was prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. At a time when numerous social networks operate in the world, and there is the possibility of using their technical capabilities for the purpose of disinformation of all types, we urge the public not to believe such frivolous information disseminated with the aim of causing panic among the population, and to condemn those who sow this panic by spreading disinformation among a wide audience, always check this kind of information in conjunction with the relevant authorities,” the message says.
