The ex-director of a school accused of committing fraud worth 300 thousand manats was sentenced

The criminal trial against Samira Akberova (born 1966), who previously held the position of school director, has ended in Baku, oxu.az reports. During the trial in the Baku Court of Grave Crimes, she was found guilty under Article 178.3.2 (Fraud inflicting large damages) of the Criminal Code of the Azerbaijan Republic.

It turned out that in different years S. Akberova worked as the director of schools No. 44 in Baku and No. 5 in the Absheron region. While working as the head of the first educational institution, she received 150,000 manats from her friend named Arzu, promising to help her with her appointment to the post of director of one of the capital’s schools. After this, S. Akberova promised this woman to open a kindergarten together and received from her another 150,000 manats under this pretext.

Later, as the director of secondary school No. 5 in the village of Mehdiabad, Absheron region, S. Akbarova took 6,000 manats from another person, promising that she would help with the confirmation of the diploma received in Russia in the relevant department.

According to the decision of the Baku Court of Serious Crimes, S. Akberova was sentenced to 7 years in prison. The civil claim brought against S. Akberova was also satisfied. The verdict specifies the seizure and transfer of 300,000 manats to the victim
